We might think it was S80 that present several years ago was the last of the line S-series compact camera Canon PowerShot. But, it is S90 turned out this year present a retro appearance. When gripped, S90 feels a bit heavy, but still ergonomic.
It seems there is no flash in the S90. It was found hidden in top left panel. Flash is automatically lifted when the camera is set to Auto detect situations that require its presence. So consider where your left index finger is. Forefinger or other fingers can be driven by a sudden flash. Flash can be set to Auto, On, Off and Slow Syncro for slow shutter speed in order to enlighten the background.
This S90 Canon Powershot camera has image sensor of 10 megapixel, the same as its predecessor with a bigger body, the Canon PowerShot G11. Once started, it only takes 1-2 seconds before the camera is ready to shoot. There is almost no shutter lag in this point-and-shoot camera. Only when set to continuous shooting mode, S90 is as slow as a single frame per second.
If the judging, there is some ‘abnormality’ in this camera. Ring around the lens can be rotated around, presenting a maximum zoom 3.8 x. Setting Exposure and Shutter Priority should ever set manually when the camera mode is set to Av or M.
This ring is able to provide other functions, such as exposure compensation and white balance, which is regulated through Ring Function button. This only requires habituation, especially when we’re in a hurry. What is also interesting, S90 can record in RAW format, something not common in compact cameras, let alone the type of point-and-shoot. All this capability is a bit much to remind us of his predecessor, the Canon PowerShot G11.
Like today’s cameras, Canon Powershot S90 can record moving images. This can be done at 30fps on two resolutions: 640×480 and 320×200. The result is very good records. However, optical zoom will not be active. That can be enabled is the digital zoom.
Canon Powershot S90 is equipped with the Li-Ion NB-6LD rechargeable battery mentioned to stand 220 shots.
If you are looking for a stylish compact camera with an affordable price, forget the Canon PowerShot S90 camera. But if you’re looking for a compact camera that was good ISO performance, consider this canon Powershot S90 camera. Plus it can record in RAW format, a common format supported by digital SLR cameras, compact cameras rather than point-and-shoot.
As a point-and-shoot camera, this Canon PowerShot S90 is great in low light conditions. It means we can get good pictures without having to always activate the flash. This is due to installation of a very responsive f/2.0 lens, plus support for Canon’s DIGIC IV processor. S90 response was quick. The quality of his image in and outside of the room is very good with the colors that look strong.
