Different setting means different result. This is simple tips in Making Star Effect at Night Photography
Different Aperture setting not only affects the depth of field (DOF). In the two photo below, I use Aperture Priority with Priority setting, ISO number 400.
ISO 100 f/36 1s

ISO 400 f/5 1/50s

At a smaller aperture opening, (f/36) consequently affects on a longer exposure time (1s). The result is a star-shaped glow on a lamp light, making a star effect. While at a wider aperture (f/5) allowing a short exposure time (1/50s) produces a spherical glow on the lamp light.
