Analog cameras require film and aperture diaphragm 1 / f seconds so that the light that was captured could be accepted by the film into an image. On a digital camera, the film is not needed anymore as well as analog cameras. Digital cameras use a sensor known as CCD or CMOS.
An analog camera is using celluloid film, has three basic elements, each optical element is a wide variety of lenses, chemical element is the celluloid films, and mechanical elements that represents the camera body itself. Chemical elements in digital cameras nowadays become indispensable elements which can be the CCD chips (Charge coupled device) and CMOS (Complementary Metal Oxide Semiconductor) which regulates the sensitivity of the lighting and the “digital film” in modern cameras today.
Both CCD and CMOS sensor chips actually started growing together, both of these chips convert light into electrons to become digital images. Principal difference between them is the CCD typically produces images of high quality and low noise. While in CMOS, noise generated on the digital image is usually more.
CMOS sensors typically use less battery power, while in the CCD because of the special process performed at the time of the shooting, consumes 100 times more energy than similar CMOS sensor. In addition, the manufacture of CMOS chip fabrication is cheaper than CCD. However, along with the development of this sensor when the second appears to start is at a comparable stage and compete very strict.
CMOS sensors consume approximately one-eighth the power of a charge-coupled device (CCD) with a pixel. CCD sensor used is a digital camera. Today, CMOS sensors process the proton beam and turn it into an electrical signal. This sensor has a maximum size of 3.6 million pixels.
Which One to Choose
CCD and CMOS sensors are two of the different technologies for digital image capture. Both are competing for perfection, CCD and CMOS have their respective strengths and weaknesses are adjusted for different applications. However, vendors who sell the technology always highlight its advantages than others. The choice is depending on the application to be used.
